The ultimate post-pandemic wanderlust list: 10 beautiful destinations

This may not be the start to 2021 we hoped for, but the future’s bright; here’s some travel inspiration for once the restrictions have lifted (again).

Despite our stoic, wartime-style belief that it would all be over by Christmas, 2020 had other plans and the restrictions seem to just keep on coming. Sure enough, here we are in a whole new year with that groundhog-day feeling that it’s still last March. But, there’s plenty to be hopeful for as the vaccines roll out and borders around the world hopefully reopen. We may not be able to physically travel anywhere right now, but we can plan. UK magazine Harper’s BAZAR made wanderlust inspiration while we patiently wait for the departure lounge.

On the 6th place of this list is our beautiful MONTENEGRO.

Once the preserve of oligarchs and their imposing yachts, Montenegro – just down the coast from Split on the Adriatic Sea – offers a lot of glitz and glamour for the rest of us, too. A new One & Only will open there in the spring as the group’s first European property – and it won’t take you long to realize why they chose this setting. Boka Bay should be on your list for its fjord-like beauty, dazzling blue waters and the imposing mountains that line its shores. The country has walled towns, cliff-edge monasteries, millennium-old churches and mediaeval villages to explore, along with grand palaces built in a style that references the Venetian neighbors across the water.
